Dandy — a Glittery, Glitzy Fellow

The most special thing about winter, to me, is snow. I love how it makes me feel like a little kid again. How it stirs memories of sledding dangerously down steep hills, of sipping hot chocolate with lips still stinging from the cold, how it makes me think of playing outside with my brother, building snowmen and collecting enough clean snow for a new fresh batch of delicious snow cream.

There were many evenings that I just looked out the window, watching new flakes fall and loving how the snow glistened in the moonlight. That sparkle was magical. Still, my very favorite thing about winter is snow. And my very favorite thing about snow is how it sparkles when the light hits it just right.

My offering for this month’s PFATT Marketplace is a tribute to that lovely sparkle.

Dandy is a mixed media sculpture built onto a paper-mache cone. He can be a tree topper at Christmastime and then function as a free-standing doll the rest of the winter. He’s sure to keep you good company on cold winter days!

Dandy is around 12.25″ tall and will be available on Dec. 10th at 1 p.m. EST on my PFATT Marketplace page. (Or just click the image below!)

Wynter – A Primitive Wintery Elf

This is my latest creation, Wynter. She’s a beautiful snowy elf & would look perfect gracing your mantle this winter. This little gal will be available during the PFATT Marketplace sale, which is updated at 1PM EST, every month on the 10th.

Wynter is a one of a kind, is signed & dated & comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. She’s a free standing doll or may be used as a small tree topper on next year’s Christmas tree.

Visit PFATT Marketplace to see her! Make sure you check out the other talented artists! There’s lots of handmade goodies to be had.

Happy Winter, Little Squirrel

I absolutely love creating treasuries on Etsy. It’s almost like a treasure hunt / puzzle balled into one activity. I love searching through listings of sweet handmade items to find the perfect item. What is the perfect item for a treasury? It has to suit my theme. The photo of the item should be great & most of all, it should suit the color/colors or tone of my treasury. I also try to pick items that I would love to have. I guess building treasuries is window shopping too!

The treasury collection above is my latest. It’s titled Happy Winter, Little Squirrel. I began this treasury thinking about woodland themed Christmas items, which also happens to be theme of my own Christmas decor this season. Ultimately, the image of the soft winter squirrel won out & I chose to focus on this beautiful creature. All of the items above are exceptional! If you see something you just have to have, click the image above to be taken to the treasury on Etsy. From there, click till your heart’s content.

Happy Winter!

Christmas Inspiration

Every year, I dream of putting our Christmas decorations out the first week of November…of getting our house Christmas ready & winter cozy, washing curtains & slaying dust bunnies so that by Thanksgiving, the bulk of the work is done, our home is mostly decorated & all that is left, is our annual tradition of purchasing & putting up our live tree the day after Thanksgiving.

I always dream of this. But it never, ever happens.

Right now, there are ornament boxes scattered, totes full of silver balls waiting to be packed down, garland to be strung, cleaning to be done & dolls to be made.

But next year, I WILL have everything done the first week of November. You believe me, don’t you?

If you’re like me & are still decorating your home for the holidays….here are some of my favorite images to inspire. I come back to these again & again because they make me want to create the perfect country Christmas.

Enjoy! I hope you find them inspiring.
