Come We to the Summer

Earlier this year I worked on a piece especially for the Kentucky Folk Art Center’s summer exhibition entitled Come We to the Summer.  I was honored to have my piece selected for the exhibit. The show is scheduled to be displayed until August 29th. So there is still time to view this wonderful exhibit if you have a chance. I have a few pictures from the opening reception, including some photos of my humbled little gal, Mariposa, who was just happy to spread her wings amongst such fantastic artwork.

(This was my first gallery exhibition in Kentucky and the very first opening reception I’ve been able to attend. Last year I was honored to have work included in a group exhibit at Hawk Galleries in Columbus, Ohio featuring Minnie Adkins and many of the area Kentucky folk artists.)

I wish I had taken more photos of the fantastic evening and of all the great art work that was presented in this show, including the Best in Show winning piece by Jo Ann Butts. Unfortunately, this was one of the evenings I forgot my camera but made due with the iPhone. The show is still up for a few more weeks if you would like to swing by and see it.

It’s Time. Let’s head to the Woodland!

This weekend is the well-loved and recognized Woodland Art Fair in Lexington, Ky. I am happy to be amongst the 200 artists accepted to this show this year. I’ll have lots of new critters and smiling faces ready to greet you, including mine! If you’ve never seen my work in person, this is a great opportunity to see my pieces up close in a beautiful and charming setting with live music to accompany you while you shop.

I’m space 219. You can find me in the Woodland Art Fair map. Click the image below to enlarge it full size. I’ve marked my spot with a blue heart. Look for the bandstand and pool to find me! I’m near Kentucky Avenue.

In exactly one week, I will be setting up my space for the Woodland Art Fair in Lexington, Ky. This is my 2nd year participating in this event. I had such a warm reception last year and am really looking forward to the weekend! In preparation, I’ve been working on new pieces and will have a good selection of wonderful little people and critters available. Today I’m working especially hard on some sweet sculptures to share during the Woodland Art Fair.

AND…I’m really looking forward to the food. Is that wrong of me? If it is, I guess I don’t want to be right! Crank and Boom ice cream, my current obsession, will be available during the fair as well as Goodfella’s Pizza, which is a little slice of heaven! So if you stop by my booth, don’t be surprised if I’m in the middle of my blackberry buttermilk ice cream! Oh, it’s to die for–like the last bite of blackberry cobbler, when the ice cream is melted.

These are some sneak peeks of the pieces I’m working on today (and will be working on this weekend!).

If you visit, I’ll be in booth 219–the same location as last year. I’m near the bandstand. On the map below I’m in the upper left hand corner. Just click on the map to make it bigger or to be take to the Woodland Art Fair map page.

Work in Progress! It takes a lot of little steps until they are complete!

2015 Berea Craft Festival

It’s almost time! You can bet my hands have been busy getting ready for the 34th annual Berea Craft Festival. It’s one of my most favorite events. I love displaying my artwork here & having the opportunity to talk about what I do with art enthusiasts. I love seeing friends! And I love looking at all the amazing art & crafts that are available during this event. It’s family friendly too! Lots of demonstrations. You’ll get the opportunity to see artisans work on their craft right in front  of your eyes. It’s a great opportunity to bring kids. It’s amazing to see how some of the items you use every day are brought to life. Great food & music! If you are looking for a fun, educational experience this weekend, come to the Berea Craft Festival! It’s a rich experience.

If you get a chance, stop by this weekend! I promise you, you’ll have a fun time. (I was super excited to see my dolls as part of the advertising for the Berea Craft Festival this year!)
