It won’t be long till I’ll be setting up my tent in various locations around Kentucky!

I just updated my 2016 Art/Craft Fair calendar. Notice that some shows are marked with a *. These shows are still pending jury review. If you’ve never seen my work before and would like to see it in person, this is a great time to see my collection including all my handmade dolls and ornaments, brooches and little critters. If you’d like more information about any particular show, please don’t hesitate to email me or follow the provided links for more information. If I add a show to my repertoire, I’ll be sure to add it here so check back often for any changes.

Kentucky Crafted: The Market 2016

I will be participating this year in Kentucky Crafted: The Market for the first time. I can tell you, my little fingers are flying in West Liberty, working on special pieces to present to you the first weekend in March. I’d love to see you there!

Kentucky Crafted: The Market, now in its 34th year, celebrates the state’s finest producers of art, craft, literature and artisanal food. In addition to shopping for fine art and craft, visitors can enjoy musical performances, sample regional food products, participate in hands-on activities, and explore Kentucky arts and culture through special exhibits. Nowhere in Kentucky, let alone the nation, will you find such a convergence of high quality art, craft, literature, music, film and food as you will at Kentucky Crafted: The Market. When you attend this show, prepare yourself for an exciting sensory experience. Kentucky Crafted: The Market is one of the only state-sponsored shows of its kind to feature traditional and contemporary fine art and craft along with Kentucky-related books, musical recordings, films and specialty food products.

The Market was chosen as the No. 1 Fair & Festival by readers of AmericanStyle Magazine four years in a row. It has been named a Top 10 Event by Kentucky Tourism Council and a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. Kentucky Crafted: The Market offers buyers from galleries, shops and online retail venues across the nation the opportunity to select products from this elite group of exhibitors. The Market is open exclusively to the trade on March 4. The general public is invited to Kentucky Crafted: The Market on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6. Guests can purchase a one-day ticket for $10 or attend both days for $15. Children 15 and younger are admitted free of charge with a paying adult.

Santa’s Little Helper

This sweet gent is Father Christmas. This three piece doll set is #249.

I love old world Santas. And the idea of Santa traveling through the forest on horseback, delivering special gifts to sweet children who dream of him in their sleep.That thought inspired this charming fellow who has a very special helper.

Santa is 16″ tall, while his horse is 6″ tall and 9.5″ from nose to tail.

Appalachian Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair…

This is a one day show, on Saturday, December 5th. I’ll have a good selection of everything you’ll need to make your home sparkle for the season and a nice selection of hand-made, hand-painted gifts for loved ones! Today I am working on a sweet set of quilted Christmas ornaments. In the next few days these little babies will be packaged up and shipped off to explore new territory. For the first time ever I will be including a new label on my product packaging. I don’t know that I’ve ever been so excited to receive a roll of stickers!

Kentucky Crafted is a program of the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, which is supported by state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. It is an adjudicated program that provides assistance to Kentucky artists through marketing and promotional opportunities and arts business training. I feel very fortunate to have been accepted into the program this year and to have my work acknowledged for ‘artistic excellence’. And I’m excited to see where this goes!

Woodland Santa and his sweet Companions

This is my newest holiday Santa and I have to tell you I am smitten with him! I love the sweet company he keeps but my favorite thing about him is his color palette. Some special details about this guy: he’s big! Santa measures 19.5″ tall. His deer measure 10.5 inches tall (excluding antlers) and are 9.5 inches wide from nose to tail. I’ve used real deer antler buttons on his under robe! These were hand-crafted from a fellow artist her in Kentucky. I met him at the Minnie Adkins Day show I did back in July and as soon as I saw these buttons I knew I would use them on a Santa. This felt like the right Santa. It adds to the charm of this woodland fellow! Santa’s sweet annie garland that he holds in his hands also contains two small bird feathers. I think these add such a nice touch to the woodland theme. But it’s also a small detail that you might not even notice right away. The wool used for Santa’s beard and hair is my favorite type of wool! I think it’s just so soft and appealing. It adds such a nice, old world touch to this charming fellow.
