Bebe, A Primitive Bumblegirl

BebeHeadToToe This sweet bumble girl is Bebe. She’s 14.5″ tall from the top of her head to the tips of her toes toes & has a wingspan measuring 12.5 inches. She has been made of muslin & is stuffed with fiberfill. Bebe’s been hand-painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed so that she may be lightly dusted after display. Bebe would look lovely perched upon a shelf as she may sit with assistance. She also comes with an embroidery thread loop attached to her back, making her suitable for hanging.

Bebe’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand, giving her face a great bit of dimension & a beautiful little pout. She has needle-sculpted hands as well.  Bebe wears painted black boots with buttons, eyelet lace details & yellow & black striped socks.

BebeHand  BeBeBoots  BebeFabric

I just love this whimsical fabric. It’s 100% cotton. The hem is hand-stitched. Bebe’s blouse is sewn from white muslin & features hand-stitching at the neckline, sleeves & back. Two tiny black buttons adorn the neckline.

Bebe’s fluttery muslin wings have been hand-painted & aged. They’re machine quilted in a realistic bee wing pattern. They are attached to Bebe with an antique mother of pearl button & embroidery thread.

Bebe’s honey blonde hair (seems appropriate, don’t ya think?) is 100% mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. It is pulled to either side & has been braided.

Bebe is currently for sale on eBay. She’ll end Sunday, March 7th at 9:15 PM EST. Click here to view or bid.

She is so adorable. I love anything bumblebee-ish. What a wonderful spring bumblegirl.

  2. Rebecca says:

Thanks so much, Jody! She’s actually cuter than the pictures portray. It was kinda hard to get the lighting right. This is my first bumblegirl but I can bet she won’t be the last!
