Paxtyn Miller

Paxtyn

My brother, Scott & sister-in-law, Amelia just welcomed the arrival of their first baby, Paxtyn, yesterday around 6:30 PM. He weighs 7 lbs. 12 oz. & is 20 1/2″ long. Welcome to the world Paxtyn!

Our new (old) house.

Those who know me, know that I love antiques. There’s just something about worn furniture, chipped paint, a rusty patina or wood conditioned by hands, use & time that cuts to the very heart of me.

One week ago my husband & I officially purchased our most expensive & largest antique yet. It’s a 94 year old farmhouse.

House

Smokehouse

Above is the smokehouse/root cellar. (It will be our potting shed & gardening center.) It’s full of treasures. Many of which I can’t see from the doorway. I can’t wait to start sorting through that charming little addition. I can so easily imagine a sink underneath the window, perfect for washing veggies & fruits from the garden before they’re brought through the door.

Yard

The barn came with the property & we own 2 acres behind it, which meet the Licking River. Fishing from my own backyard? That’s my idea of heaven.

We’re excited! We’ve ripped up carpet in a few rooms & have painted walls in much of the house. Some work will just have to wait until we’re actually in the home. And bigger projects will definitely have to wait until we can afford them.

Although we’re tired, we don’t mind the work. Every stroke of the broom or paint brush, every cobweb that’s knocked down, every ounce of sweat we’ve put into this house this week, is improving our home. And it’s nice to be able to call it Our Home. I know that we’ll love this house. And I think this house will love us as well.

Yippee! I’m in a Treasury.

etsytreas

You see him up there? My little White Rabbit broach? How sweet to be included in a such a wonderful treasury! This Etsy Treasury was compiled by La Baleine a Plumes. Thanks so much for including me!

You may notice that usually there’s a new dolly listed here on Monday. And if not on Monday, then surely by Tuesday night I have something listed.

I’m sad to say, there will be no dolly this week. I had been working on a very special piece for a Prim & Whimsy Girls Challenge that is going on this week! (Search PWGL Bewitched to see what my talented PWGL sisters have made.) I just didn’t get finished. And on top of that, Dave & I are working very hard this week to prepare a house for our belongings. That’s right. In a few short days, we’ll officially be homeowners! We’re terribly excited, but there’s so much work to do. We still have to pack the majority of our belongings. So if you don’t see a Miller Campbell Designs dolly for a little while, that’s why.

But, here’s something that will make you all giddy with excitement. I know a lady who is having a fantastic give-away that you can join! Her name is Jo & she & her hubby make the most wonderful dollies. Oh, you know who I’m talking about? Did you already know about the give-away? If not just go here, to her super fabulous blog to read all the details & see how you can win these most wonderful of items.

The Gang.

TheGang

This is the current crew hanging around my house. They can be a little trouble at times, but for the most part, everyone gets along. Of course, Alice will be in charge this week while I work on new dollies & run errands & such. Alice is my newest ‘type’ of doll, being a 19″ stand-up. The sweet butterfly to the left of Alice, is my typical 14″-15″ stand-up doll. It’s kinda fun seeing them all arranged like this for a group portrait. I had to snap it quick before they hopped, flew or galloped away–not to mention the havoc little Norma was trying to wreak with her spells! They’re anxious to see who will be joining them next!
