Merrilee–an Angelic Handmade Christmas Ornament

MerrileeHeadToToe

I’d like to introduce you to Merrilee. This wee gal measures 10.5 inches tall from tip of wing to toe. She has a wingspan of 7 inches. Merrilee’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She’s been hand-painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. I’ve sealed her with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display. She has an embroidery thread loop attached, so she can hang beautifully from your Christmas tree. She would also look lovely displayed year round & may sit (with assistance).

Merrilee’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand just like my larger dollies. Her hands have been needle-sculpted as well. She sports brown painted gloves & brown boots with tan socks & red laces.

Merrilee’s blouse is made of white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline and back. It is finished off with tiny, pearl buttons at the neckline. Her skirt is made of 100% cotton. This is a pretty spa blue, floral print. The hem is hand-stitched.

MerrileeWing

Merrilee’s wings have been made from muslin & cotton batting. They’ve been machine-quilted, painted & aged & have been dusted with beautiful, sparkly vintage-style glass glitter. This little girl will shimmer on your Christmas tree! Merrilee’s wings have been attached with a vintage, mother of pearl button & embroidery thread.

Her golden brown hair is 100% mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. It is pulled loosely to the side.

This little one is currently available on Ebay & will end Sunday, Aug. 16th. Click here to bring her to your home for the holidays!

Primitive Pug Ornies

These little guys are on eBay this week.

Two pug ornies! They’re such a sweet couple. They quarrel occasionally, but what couple doesn’t?

New Ornies for the Tree!

Before you know it, it will be time to decorate the Christmas tree. I have to admit, I’m looking forward to it. I’ve already been drooling over all the handmade ornaments on Etsy & thinking about what I might like to make for my own tree this year. I always stick little nests in there. And grapevine. My tree topper is one of the first angels I ever made with coffee stained wings and no face. Some of my favorite holiday decorations are homemade banners made of cardstock & string. They’re just random little phrases that make me smile. I string them above doorways or the bed or above the kitchen sink. You can see pictures of a few in this post from last year.

I hope I can hold off until at LEAST Thanksgiving before the little banners & baubles go up. It’s getting harder as I’ve found myself humming Christmas carols for a while now.

Here are the ornies I have listed this week.
