Rosetta – A Sparkly Garden Fairy.

Meet Rosetta. She’s my newest creation & is my offering for April’s PFATT Marketplace update. Rosetta is an OOAK (original, one of a kind) paperclay creation. She will not be reproduced.

Rosetta is 10.75” tall with a wingspan of 5”. She is a wee little charmer for sure! Rosetta’s head is made from paperclay over Styrofoam armature, securely sculpted to a papermache cone base. Additional paperclay details include Rosetta’s leafy collar & the petals of her beautiful skirt. Rosetta is a free-standing doll & because she was built on a cone base, she can also be used as a lovely tree topper in your shabby-chic or romantic, Victorian home.

Rosetta has been hand-painted top to bottom with a variety of media in several layers. She has a great vintage patina & lots of texture! Rosetta has been sealed with matte sealant, but has a slight sheen.

Her wings are machine-quilted muslin. The front of Rosetta’s wings are heavily dusted with vintage-style glass glitter. They are securely attached to Rosetta’s body with embroidery thread & vintage, mother of pearl buttons.

Rosetta can be purchased here. Make sure to check out the many wonderful offering by members of the PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Talk & Tea) Marketplace members.

Dorrie & her Sweet Springtime Friends

DorrieHeadToToe

Close friends really do stick together. Meet Dorrie. She was created for a special Prim & Whimsy Girl Challenge titled “A Bird in the Hand”. (Search PWGL Bird to see the amazing art my Prim & Whimsy sisters have created for this challenge!) Dorrie’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She & her birds measures 18″ tall from top to bottom (or bird to toe). She sits nicely on her own. Her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled in order to weight her little bottom. She has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display.

Dorrie’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a great little pout. Her hands have been needle-sculpted as well. She sports brown painted gloves. She also sports painted brown boots with tan socks & grey laces.

Dorrie’s blouse is made of white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching in the back. It is finished off with a black vintage button at the collar. Her skirt is fashioned from a teal bird print & black & white plaid fabric. Both fabrics are 100% cotton. The hem is stitched in a contrasting black thread. All clothing was treated to a coffee bath for a slightly aged appearance. It was then hand-washed & pressed.

These little birdies have hand-quilted wings which were then hand-stitched to their bodies. They’ve been painted, sanded, aged & sealed. The nest is wired to Dorrie’s hands for extra security. The little guy who has decided to nest in Dorrie’s hair is wired in place & is not removable.

DorrieBack

Dorrie’s wild hair is 100% dark brown mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. Dorrie is available on Ebay. She ends March 22 at 9:30 PM EST. Click here to view or bid!
