Berea Craft Festival Preview!
I’m so tickled to be participating in the 30th annual Berea Craft Festival, held in Berea, Kentucky. Today I’m busy wrapping dollies in bubble wrap, securely packaging them for travel & crossing items off my to-do list….and working on finishing a couple of dolls before this weekend’s show.
Here are a few examples of the newness I’ve created especially for the Berea Festival. There’s LOTS more. If you’re near Kentucky, come on out! Enjoy the music, food, art & hopefully, sunshine!
There’s more to be seen this weekend July 8-10th! www.bereacraftfestival.com
Scenes From the Workroom
For the last few weeks, my workroom has been buzzing with activity as I prepare for the Berea Craft Festival coming up in July. It’s a good thing I tend to work well under pressure! Here are a few scenes from my very busy workroom. These aren’t beautiful shots of a clean workspace; they’re photos of a real working home studio which sees use every single day.
My To-Do List–it keeps me on track.
My Work Table — several projects in various stage of completion.
“Please give me a face.”
Swirls of paint on an old plate–just peel the paint off & wash!
Fabric selection! One of my favorite parts of the doll-making process.
Legs hanging to dry.
This is a sneak peek of two of the dolls you will see at the Berea Craft Festival July 8-10. I’m working on a series of these painted ladies with quilt blocks as a central theme. They’re beautiful in person & the blocks are based upon typical quilt blocks found in many quilts made in Appalachia & other areas.
I hope you’ll come see the whole collection! I’ll have many new dolls to offer during the festival. If you’re interested in making the show, please visit www.bereacraftfestival.com for more information. The festival will feature 120 artists from 20 states exhibiting hand-made art & crafts.
It’s Almost Festival Time!
This year I’m happy to be participating in a couple of local festivals. The first one, coming up in July, is the Berea Craft Festival. The Berea Craft Festival is a juried show & will feature 100+ artists & crafters from Kentucky & surrounding states. It will also feature great food and local entertainment. Berea Craft Festival is considered one of the best art & craft festivals in the country. If you can only attend one festival this year, this is a great one! I’m thrilled to be participating & am creating several pieces with a more Appalachian flavor just for this show.
This is the current brochure for the 2011 Berea Craft Festival. (See some familiar artwork?) Click the images below to visit the Berea Craft Festival website, for dates, driving directions, local accommodations & more! Hope to see you in Berea!
