I am so happy to introduce you to Mary Posa. She is my original design and is guaranteed one of a kind art! She is 23" tall & has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She has been painted top to bottom many, many times & has been treated to a series of paint washes, making her look "oh so vintage". Sweet Mary’s arms are lightly wired & can be bent slightly. She has a loop attached making her suitable for hanging. Her knees are sewn through, allowing her to sit if propped. She can not sit on her own.
Mary’s face has been needle-sculpted by hand, (nose & lip), and hand-painted. Her bottom lip ‘pouts’ while her top lip is simply painted. She is heavily detailed & features big taupe eyes, rosy cheeks, peachy lips & detailed eyebrows. She has been painted & shaded with a variety of paints & mediums. Mary’s fingers have been needle-sculpted by hand. She has been sealed top to bottom with a combination of glossy & matte acrylic sealer so that she may be lightly dusted after display & kept a lifetime.
Mary sports painted black gloves, black boots with grey accents & buttons and blue & grey striped socks. They are highly detailed, right down to the buttons.
Mary’s apron dress is made from a super cute, 100% cotton, polka dot, Robert Kaufman print. Her blouse is made from a blue, floral, 100% cotton print & features hand-gathered sleeves & vintage black buttons. Mary’s dress & blouse features tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched as well as the back of her blouse.
Mary Posa’s swallowtail wings have been made from muslin & hand-quilted. I’ve painted and sanded them many times. They’ve been sealed & are attached to Mary’s back with heavy duty button thread & a large, vintage, mother of pearl button. Mary can be seated in both poses shown above or can be hung on the wall.
Mary’s hair is 100% "carrot" mohair. I’ve lightly glued, then carefully needle-felted it to her head. Her hair is ‘parted’ and styled into messy buns.
For fun, I’ve started Mary Posa (mariposa=butterfly, in Spanish), at a low starting price of $10.00. She will end Sunday, March 23rd at 9:15 PM EST. Click here to view or bid.
Looks like Sylvie had a better use for her math homework!
