A primitive Easter Rabbit & her Posy

TillyHeadtoToe I’m so happy to introduce to you, Tilly. Like all my dolls, she is my original design and is guaranteed one of a kind art! I’ve used no patterns to create her or her clothing. She is a whopping 31″ tall. She has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. I’ve stuffed Tilly’s lower torso with beans & rags in order to weight her little bottom. I’ve hand-painted & sanded her top to bottom many, many times. Tilly has been stained for an ‘oh so vintage’ appearance. Her arms are lightly wired.

Tilly’s sweet face has been needle-sculpted by hand, (nose), and hand-painted. Her face is heavily detailed! She has been painted with premium acrylic paints and shaded & highlighted heavily with oil pastels, artist pencils & acrylic paint. She has been sealed top to bottom with glossy acrylic sealer so that you may dust her lightly after display & keep her for a lifetime.

Tilly’s fingers have been needle-sculpted by hand. She is wearing white painted gloves (elbow length!) & brown boots with pretty smoky purple socks, matching the hydrangea she carries, perfectly. Tilly’s shoes have been painted & heavily detailed, right down to the laces!

Tilly’s apron dress is made of a 100% cotton, brown, floral print. Her blouse has been made out of white muslin & features hand-gathered sleeves & a vintage button. Tilly’s skirt & blouse feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched (skirt, sleeves & collar). Her clothing has been treated to a coffee and lavender bud bath for a semi-grubby, aged appearance. All pieces have been hand-washed & pressed with linen water.

Tilly carries a dried hydrangea bouquet, surely a sweet gift for someone! This dried hydrangea features delicate shades of smoky purple, sage & light blue. The stem has been wired & wrapped with florists’ tape & then wrapped in burlap. The stem also features a midori satin ribbon band, chocolate in color, topped off with a raffia bow — the perfect combination of frilly & rugged.

Tilly makes her eBay debut tonight at 9:15 PM. She will end Feb. 10th at 9:15 PM. Click here to view or bid! (Link will not work until she is available on eBay at 9:15.)

A quick tidbit about my EBay listings.

I don’t know if many of you noticed, but during my last two auctions I kept my bidder’s list private. This is why: During my Christmas auctions, I received word from one of my bidders that someone had contacted her, pretending to be me & attempted to sell her the doll outside of eBay. Thank God she contacted me.

I informed EBay of the situation. However, there is not much EBay can do to thwart such scams. In order to protect the privacy of my bidders, I opted to make my auctions private. This week, I have chosen not to make my bidding list private. I’ve done this for several reasons. One of which, is so that completed auctions will appear in my feedback area. With private auctions, they do not. Also, I think public lists give a sense of security to the bidder. It allows them to strategize & plan their bids. This week, I’ve added a note to my listing, informing my viewers & bidders that I NEVER contact bidders in an attempt to complete a transaction outside of eBay. Please protect yourself. If you receive an email like this (and I’m sure there are tons of scams concerning eBay), do not delete it. Contact eBay, or the seller. Do not reply to the email. These people are phishing for any of your information they can obtain.

Ava, whose heart flutters for the winged creatures.

AvaTorso This sweet little gal is Ava. She is my original design and is guaranteed one of a kind art! I’ve used no patterns to create her, her bird or her clothing. Ava is 31″ tall. Her sweet feathered friend is 4″ tall & 8″ wide from beak to tail. They have been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Ava’s lower torso has been rag-stuffed & bean filled in order to weight her little bottom. I’ve hand-painted & sanded Ava & her blue bird top to bottom many, many times. They’ve been treated to a series of paint washes which make them look oh so vintage. Ava’s arms are lightly wired allowing her to be gently posed.

Ava’s facial features have been needle-sculpted and hand-painted. Her bottom lip ‘pouts’ while her top lip is simply painted. She has big brown eyes, peachy lips & rosy cheeks. Her fingers have been needle-sculpted (by hand). Ava & her bird have been painted with premium acrylic paints and shaded & highlighted heavily with oil pastels. They have been sealed top to bottom with glossy acrylic sealer so that you may dust them lightly after display & keep them for a lifetime.

Ava sports light blue painted gloves & brown boots with pretty light blue socks. Her shoes have been painted & heavily detailed, right down to the laces!

Ava’s apron skirt has been constructed of taupe osnaburg. It has such a lovely texture! Her blouse has been made out of white muslin & features hand-gathered sleeves & a pretty collar. Ava’s skirt & blouse feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched (skirt, sleeves & collar). Her clothing has been treated to a coffee and lavender bud bath for a semi-grubby, aged appearance. All pieces were then hand-washed & pressed with linen water.

AvaBirdNest AvaEggs AvaClose

Ava’s sweet little bluebird has been modeled after the Eastern Bluebird. She sits atop an angelvine nest with 7 light blue paperclay eggs that I hand-sculpted & painted. Nestled among the blue eggs is one truly beautiful speckled off white egg. Sometimes female birds will lay an egg in a nest that is not theirs. It is called egg dumping. I guess that’s where the pretty little speckled egg came from. This sweet nest is filled with green & brown preserved moss. Ava’s bird is made from 4 separate pieces. Her tail is attached with a vintage blue button. Her wings are attached with heavy duty button thread. Lots of hand-painted details on this bluebird!

Ava’s hair is black, 100% mohair. It has been lightly glued then carefully needle-felted to her head. Ava’s hair is styled into low, messy buns.

This little girl is available tonight beginning at 9:15. She will end Feb. 3 at 9:15 PM. As always Click here to view or Bid.

Tag – I’m it?

I’ve been tagged by my lovely friend, April Harres.

Here are five things you may not know about me. (How fun!)

1. Every time I pick up a paintbrush & begin a new creation, I am afraid that I will have suddenly, overnight, forgotten how to paint.

2. I love, love creating art. But contemporary poetry is my passion. I hope to self-publish a chapbook soon.

3. I am a clutter bug but dream of organized spaces. The Container Store makes me drool like a psych patient.

4. I am a paper & more recently–a fabric–addict. I love the textures, the prints, the weight & sometimes, tiny imperfections (especially in handmade paper). Calicos, sweet floral prints & polka dots make me swoon.

5. I love to concert hop. Last October my husband & I saw three headlining bands in one week in three different states. Ryan Adams & the Cardinals in Columbus, OH – Kings of Leon in Nashville, TN & The Black Crowes in Louisville, KY.

Now I get to tag 5 people. And so,

Lily – French & Country Chic Gallery

Christine – Du Buh Du Designs

Sarah – Green Weeds

Danita – Danita Art

Tootie – Honey Girl Studio
