Does anything say “Welcome Spring!” better than the sweet, smiling face of a daffodil?

I don’t think so either! They’re such a gracious reminder that warm weather & sunny skies are on the way. This little girl is Dilly, my own reminder that spring is just around the corner & no, it won’t be cold forever. Dilly’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She measures 16.5″ tall from the tip of her petals to her base. Dilly stands freely as her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled.Dilly has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed so that she may be lightly dusted after display.

Dilly’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a perfect little pout. Each of Dilly’s petals have been individually sewn & were applied by hand–in fact, there is SO much hand-stitching in the construction of this doll & her clothing. Her tiny, leafy arms have been quilted by hand. They’re a lovely shade of olive green.

Dilly’s blouse is made of taupe osnaburg. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline and back. Her apron dress is made from a brown & cream polka dot 100% cotton print! The hem features hand-stitching.

A Sweet Easter Bunny Sure to Brighten Your Spring.

Meet Moll. This little girl has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She measures a little over 14″ from those sweet ears down to those cutesy boots. Moll has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display. Her knees have been sewn through. She comes with a loop attached to her back making her suitable for hanging although Moll can sit with assistance (if propped).

Moll’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose has been needle-sculpted by hand. Her little paws have been needle-sculpted as well. She sports brown painted gloves. She also sports painted brown boots with tan locks & taupe laces.

Moll’s blouse is made of taupe osnaburg. It has such great texture! It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline and back. It is finished off with huge, vintage, mother of pearl button at the neckline. Her apron dress consists of two beautiful 100% cotton prints. The hems feature hand-stitching in a chocolate brown thread. I’ve attached vintage mother of pearl buttons to the skirt for added detail.

Where’s the Art?

I guess you may be wondering where the art is? It’s kind of unusual for me to go 2 Sundays without posting something new. The last two weeks have been pretty busy. We did lots of traveling week before last which prevented getting a dolly finished. Then as soon as we got home, I was struck with the most amazing sinus/ear/holy crap I’m staying in bed – infection.

Since I’ve not had an ear ache since I was a kid (and that’s been a while ago), I had forgotten how bad an earache hurts. Thankfully, with the help of those amazing little things called antibiotics, I’m on the mend.

So.

I had an in-process dolly who’s been naked this whole time that I’ve been down. As soon as I get her some new clothes, I’ll have some pics. She’ll be available on eBay Tuesday evening.

And this week is jam-packed with a little game I like to call catch-up. So more new art will arrive shortly!

La La, an Easter Lamb sure to make your Heart Squeal.

This sweet lady is La La. And she is as gentle as she looks. La La’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She measures 14 tall from head to toe. La La can only sit with assistance or can hang as she has a hemp loop attached to her back. La La’s knees are sewn through. She’s been hand-painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed with matte varnish with UV filter to ensure her longevity.

La La’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her ears have been quilted by hand. She sports painted brown boots with tan socks & mustard yellow laces.

La La’s blouse has been made from white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline & back. It is finished off with a vintage mother of pearl button. Her colorful apron skirt is made out of a 100% cotton print! The hem features hand-stitching in a contrasting brown thread. La La’s blouse was treated to a lavender bud/coffee bath for a slightly aged appearance. It was then hand-washed & pressed.

La La can sit with assistance only. She will not sit on her own. Her knees are sewn through allowing her to sit nicely on a shelf.

Charlotte & Stick Rabbit, a Sweet Easter Duo.

This little girl is definitely ready for Easter! And with this stick rabbit, you can be she’ll be hippety-hopping all over the place.

Meet Charlotte. She’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She measures 15″ tall from head to toe. Charlotte sits nicely on her own. Her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled in order to weight her little bottom. Charlotte has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patinas. She’s been sealed with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display. Her knees have been sewn through, making her a great shelf sitter. Her arms are lightly wired so that they may hold her stick rabbit with ease.

Charlotte’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a perfect little pout. Her hands have been needle-sculpted as well. She sports tan painted gloves. She also sports painted brown boots with tan locks & blue-green laces.

Charlotte’s blouse is made of white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline and back. It is finished off with a blue, vintage button. I just love the blue polka dot print used for Charlotte’s apron dress. It is completely folksy & is 100% cotton! The hem features hand-stitching in a contrasting brown thread. Charlotte’s blouse was treated to a lavender bud/coffee bath for a slightly aged appearance. All clothing was then hand-washed & pressed.

Charlotte’s stick rabbit was made of muslin, stuffed with fiberfill & hand-painted, sanded, stained & sanded. He was attached to the wooden dowel with hand-stitching & a dab of glue for extra security.

Charlotte’s hair is 100% auburn mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. It is fastened with chocolate ribbons into silly pigtails.

Bleu–a little girl sure to wash your winter blues away.

Are you dreaming of Spring yet?

This little girl sure is! (And after one of the worst ice storms I’ve ever seen, a lot of us here in Kentucky are too!) But until it arrives, she has some sweet friends to occupy her time.

Bleu is my original design. She’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Bleu measures 15″ tall from top to bottom. She has been constructed to stand & has a solid base. Her base is is rag-stuffed & bean-filled, allowing her stand properly. Bleu has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her such a lovely, aged patina. She has been sealed with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display.

Bleu’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a perfect pout. Bleu’s hands have been needle-sculpted. She sports brown painted gloves. Each bird has been wired to her arms with rusty wire.

Her blouse is made of white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline. It is finished off with a vintage mother of pearl button. Her delicate skirt is made of natural, nubby linen. It is truly soft & sumptuous. The hem features hand-stitching in a contrasting chocolate brown thread.

Bleu’s bluebirds, created to resemble the Eastern bluebird, have been made of muslin from 3 separate pieces. The wings feature hand-quilted & have been attached by hand. These bluebirds have been painted, sanded, stained & sanded again.

Bleu’s hair is 100% golden brown mohair. It is not nearly as red as depicted in these photos. Bleu’s hair was applied with light glue & needle-felting.

Maxie, A Tender Teddy Bear in Springtime Shades

This sweetie is Maxie! And Maxie is definitely ready to welcome spring in this pretty peach ensemble! She is my original design, has been made of muslin & is stuffed with fiberfill. Maxie measures just over 15″ tall from the tip of those sweet ears to the bottom of her feet. Maxie has been hand-painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She has been sealed with matte transparent varnish with UV filter to ensure her durability over the years. Maxie has been made for hanging with a hemp loop attached to her back or she can sit with assistance as her knees have been sewn through.

Maxie has been painted with a variety of media. Her ears are machine quilted. She has needle-sculpted hands & sports brown painted gloves. She also sports painted brown boots with tan laces & taupe socks.

Maxie’s apron dress is a beautiful collection of some of my very favorite fabrics in sweet peachy hues. Her blouse is made of nubby taupe osnaburg. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline. It is finished off with a vintage button. Maxie’s skirt features hand-stitching around the hemline.

Marcella, A Primitive LOVE Fairy.

This is Marcella, a sweet Valentine’s fairy sure to make you feel all swoony on the that special day. Marcella is my original design. She’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Her base is rag-stuffed & bean-filled, allowing her to stand on her own. Marcella has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed with a matte sealer so that she may be lightly dusted after display. Marcella has been made in the style of a stump doll & has no legs.Marcella’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a delicate pout.

Marcella’s hair is 100% honey blonde mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. It is needle-felted to the side & left long & loose.

Viv, a Primitive Girl Who Dreams of Spring.

This little girl will make your forget you ever had the winter blahs! Meet Viv & her sweet spring lamb.

Viv & her lamb are my original designs. They’ve been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Viv measures 15.5″ tall from head to toe. She sits nicely on her own. Her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled in order to weight her little bottom. Viv & lamb have been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving them lovely, aged patinas. Both dolls have been sealed with a combination of glossy & matte sealers so that they may be lightly dusted after display. Viv’s knees have been sewn through, making her a great shelf sitter. Her arms are lightly wired so that they may be gently posed.

Viv & lamb have been painted with a variety of media. Viv’s nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a perfect pout. Her hands have been needle-sculpted as well. She sports tan painted gloves. She also sports painted brown boots with tan laces & sweet mustard yellow laces.

Viv’s blouse is made of white muslin. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline. It is finished off with a vintage button. Viv’s colorful skirt is made out of four 100% cotton prints! They’re so folksy & charming! The hem features hand-stitching in a contrasting brown thread. Viv’s clothing was treated to a lavender bud/coffee bath for a slightly aged appearance. All clothing was then hand-washed & pressed.

This little lamb has been sewn from five separate parts. Each limb was hand-stitched to the body. A tuft of white wool has been attached with needle-felting for a tail.

Viv’s hair is 100% black mohair. It has been applied with light glue for extra security & needle-felting. It is needle-felted to the side & left long & loose.
