Lunetta, a primitive, springtime Luna Moth

LunettaSitting2 This little gal is Lunetta. Like all of my dolls, she is my original design and is guaranteed one of a kind art! She is 28" tall with a wingspan of 16". She has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Little Lunetta has been hand-painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times. She has been treated to a series of paint washes, making her look "oh so vintage". Lunetta has a loop attached to her back for hanging or she can sit if you choose to display her in that fashion.

Lunetta’s face has been needle-sculpted by hand and hand-painted. Her bottom lip ‘pouts’ while her top lip is simply painted. She is heavily detailed & features big brown eyes, rosy cheeks, pale nude lips & detailed eyebrows. She has been painted with various mediums. Lunetta’s fingers have been needle-sculpted by hand. She has been sealed top to bottom with a combination of glossy & matte acrylic sealer so that she may be lightly dusted after display & kept a lifetime.

She sports painted brown boots and striped socks in shades of taupe and light blue. They are highly detailed, right down to the laces. In her hands Lunetta holds a white crescent moon made of muslin. The moon is attached to Lunetta’s hands (which are sewn together) with hemp twine.

Lunetta’s apron dress is made from two super cute 100% cotton prints. The underskirt is celery green with blue stars. The over skirt is a striped, Robert Kaufman fabric. The skirt straps are finished with two brown buttons in the front. Lunetta’s blouse is made of muslin & features hand-gathered sleeves & a green vintage button at the collar. Lunetta’s dress & blouse feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched (dress & sleeves), as well as the back of the blouse & collar. All clothing has been treated to a coffee and lavender bud bath for a slightly aged appearance. It was then hand-washed & pressed with linen water.

Lunetta’s wings have been made of muslin, hand-quilted & then hand-painted. They were painted with actual Luna moth wings serving as the inspiration (please see below for pictures). They are lightly wired on top & can be very gently bent. They were attached to Lunetta with a large brown button & several strands of heavy duty thread.

Lunetta’s hair is curly brown 100% mohair. I’ve lightly glued, then carefully needle-felted it to her head. Her hair is ‘parted’ and styled into low, wild pigtails.

Lunetta is available on eBay until March 30th. She will end at 9:15 PM EST. Here’s the link to view or bid!
