Sarah Jane — Sweet Primitive Clown & Elephant Friend.

This little gal is such a sweetheart. I should clarify though, this lady is not so little. Sarah Jane is a 31″ tall doll. In a seated position, she measures approximately 26″ tall from the top of her head to the toe of her shoe. Sarah Jane is an OOAK (original, one of a kind) art doll. She is #197 in my collection of dolls & is guaranteed not to be reproduced.

Quite a bit of artistry went into Sarah Jane. She’s been constructed from muslin & fiberfill, using my own patterns & sketches. While all of her major seams were sewn by machine, quite a bit of hand-sewing was required to construct her body. Sarah Jane has a needle-sculpted nose. In addition her lip has been needle-sculpted as well, giving Sarah Jane the signature pout evident in the majority of my work. Her hands are needle-sculpted as well, giving her the illusion of fingers. Her torso has been rag-stuffed & lightly weighted so that she sits nicely.

Sarah Jane has been painted top to bottom in many layers. She has a lovely vintage patina, reminiscent of old toys. Her face was painted with a variety of media. In addition, Sarah Jane has been sealed for longevity.

Sarah’s little friend is a fiberfill & painted muslin creation made from 7 separate pieces. Again, this elephant was made from my own sketches & patterns. She is button jointed with vintage buttons & embroidery thread & sealed for protection. She sits nicely on Sarah Jane’s lap or she may be displayed separately.

Like Sarah’s Jane’s body, much of her clothing has been sewn by hand as well, aside from major seams. Hand-stitching is evident along Sarah’s sleeves & the back of her blouse.. The hem of her skirt has been stitched by hand.

Sarah Jane is now available in my Etsy shop. Click here to view or purchase!
