Annette, A Primitive Harvest Sunflower

AnnetteHeadToToe I’m so pleased to introduce you to little Annette. I created Annette especially for a Prim & Whimsy Girl challenge entitled “Halloween Harvest”. Annette has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled in order to weight her little bottom. She’s been painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times & is sealed with a combination of sealers so that she may be beautifully preserved. Annette sits on her own, is 21 inches from top to bottom & has wired arms that may be gently posed.

Annette’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand. Each petal has been constructed & sewn separately to Annette’s head.

Annette’s ‘leafy’ hands feature needle-sculpted veins.  She wears pretty brown boots complete with yellow laces & milk chocolate colored socks. Annette’s laces are highlighted & shaded, making them so very interesting.

Annette’s skirt is made of two super supple, 100% cotton prints in shades of chocolate & burnt orange with red & bittersweet details. Her blouse is made from taupe osnaburg & features hand-gathered sleeves & white beads at the neckline. These pieces feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched as well as the neckline & back of Annette’s blouse.

AnnettePumpkin

Annette carries this sweet blue/green Jarrahdale pumpkin. (One of my favorites for fall!) It is made of muslin, has been painted & sanded many times & has a very primitive, stained appearance. I’ve finished off this pumpkin with a rusty wire stem, attached with invisible filament, a hemp bow & a handmade banner.

“Happy Harvest” has been hand-painted onto taupe osnaburg then stitched onto brow polka dot fabric. It is tied to the pumpkin stem with a chocolate ribbon.

Annette is currently available on Ebay. This is a 5 day auction. She will end Sunday, Sept 14th at 9:15 PM EST. Click here to view this little dumpling!

Roxie, a primitive Monarch Butterfly dressed in the colors of Autumn.

I’m so pleased to introduce you to little Roxie, a Harvest Monarch. She is my original design & is guaranteed one of kind art! Roxie has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She’s been hand-painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times & is sealed with a combination of sealers so that she may be beautifully preserved. Roxie has a hemp loop attached to her back for hanging or she can sit with assistance. Her knees are sewn through. Roxie is just shy of 15″ with a 13.5″ wingspan. (Please note: Roxie is a little less ‘bright’ than these photos show. Her wings & the fabric in her dress is more of a rusty orange, than a bright pumpkin orange.)

Roxie’s face has been painted with various media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand. I’ve also needle sculpted by hand Roxie’s fingers. Her arms are lightly wired allowing them to be gently posed.

Roxie sports tan gloves & pretty brown boots complete with mustard yellow laces & tan socks. Her laces are highlighted & shaded, making them so very interesting.

Wow! I love this fabric combo. Roxie wears a three tiered apron dress made from 100% cotton prints. These fabrics are truly soft & supple & are a pure joy to sew. Roxie’s blouse is made of taupe osanburg & features hand-gathered sleeves & embroidery at the neckline. The stitches are accented with tiny black glass beads. These pieces of clothing feature tons of hand-stitching! All exposed hem has been stitched by hand & there is hand-stitching at the back of little Roxie’s blouse.

RoxieWingClose

These wings, painted to resemble female monarch wings, have been made of muslin. They have been machine-quilted along the outer edge & are lightly wired along the top for stability & durability. They are 13.5″ inches wide & have been entirely hand-painted. They’ve been attached to Roxie with the use of a large vintage button & heavy duty button thread.

Roxie’s hair is brown 100% mohair. It was lightly glued & carefully needle-felted to her head. It is styled into a short wavy bob.

Little Roxie will be available on eBay tonight at 9:15 PM EST. She will end Sunday, September 7 at 9:15 PM EST.
