Wouldn’t you like to find this lovely in your flower bed?

DillyHeadToToe

Does anything say “Welcome Spring!” better than the sweet, smiling face of a daffodil?

DillyFace

I don’t think so either! They’re such a gracious reminder that warm weather & sunny skies are on the way. This little girl is Dilly, my own reminder that spring is just around the corner & no, it won’t be cold forever. Dilly’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. She measures 16.5″ tall from the tip of her petals to her base. Dilly stands freely as her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled.Dilly has been painted & sanded a couple of times, giving her a lovely, aged patina. She’s been sealed so that she may be lightly dusted after display.

Dilly’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand giving her a perfect little pout. Each of Dilly’s petals have been individually sewn & were applied by hand–in fact, there is SO much hand-stitching in the construction of this doll & her clothing. Her tiny, leafy arms have been quilted by hand. They’re a lovely shade of olive green.

DillyTorso

Dilly’s blouse is made of taupe osnaburg. It features hand-gathered sleeves & hand-stitching around the neckline and back. Her apron dress is made from a brown & cream polka dot 100% cotton print! The hem features hand-stitching.

Annette, A Primitive Harvest Sunflower

AnnetteHeadToToe I’m so pleased to introduce you to little Annette. I created Annette especially for a Prim & Whimsy Girl challenge entitled “Halloween Harvest”. Annette has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Her lower torso is rag-stuffed & bean-filled in order to weight her little bottom. She’s been painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times & is sealed with a combination of sealers so that she may be beautifully preserved. Annette sits on her own, is 21 inches from top to bottom & has wired arms that may be gently posed.

Annette’s face has been painted with a variety of media. Her nose & bottom lip have been needle-sculpted by hand. Each petal has been constructed & sewn separately to Annette’s head.

Annette’s ‘leafy’ hands feature needle-sculpted veins.  She wears pretty brown boots complete with yellow laces & milk chocolate colored socks. Annette’s laces are highlighted & shaded, making them so very interesting.

Annette’s skirt is made of two super supple, 100% cotton prints in shades of chocolate & burnt orange with red & bittersweet details. Her blouse is made from taupe osnaburg & features hand-gathered sleeves & white beads at the neckline. These pieces feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched as well as the neckline & back of Annette’s blouse.

AnnettePumpkin

Annette carries this sweet blue/green Jarrahdale pumpkin. (One of my favorites for fall!) It is made of muslin, has been painted & sanded many times & has a very primitive, stained appearance. I’ve finished off this pumpkin with a rusty wire stem, attached with invisible filament, a hemp bow & a handmade banner.

“Happy Harvest” has been hand-painted onto taupe osnaburg then stitched onto brow polka dot fabric. It is tied to the pumpkin stem with a chocolate ribbon.

Annette is currently available on Ebay. This is a 5 day auction. She will end Sunday, Sept 14th at 9:15 PM EST. Click here to view this little dumpling!

A Primitive Halloween Witch Clutching her Crescent Moon

BellaHeadToToe This little sweetie is Bella. Bella is my original design is guaranteed one of a kind art & is my first Halloween creation for 2008! Bella is 27″ tall from the top of her hat to the bottom of her shoes. She’s been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill. Her lower torso has been rag-stuffed & bean filled, weighting her little bottom. Bella has been hand-painted & sanded, top to bottom many times & has a rich, deeply-aged patina. Bella’s arms are lightly wired allowing her to be slightly posed.

Bella’s face has been needle-sculpted by hand and hand-painted. Her bottom lip ‘pouts’ while her top lip is simply painted. She has been painted with various mediums & has been sealed top to bottom with a combination of sealers so that she may be lightly dusted after display.

Bella’s fingers have been needle-sculpted by hand. She grey painted gloves. She also sports painted black boots with grey socks. Her high boots are highly detailed right down to the pretty blue laces!

Bella’s apron dress is made from 100% black & white cotton prints. (I am in love with this fabric combo on her dress!) Bella’s blouse is made of white muslin & features hand-gathered sleeves. Her collar has been hand-stitched with black embroidery thread. Both the dress & blouse feature tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched (dress, sleeves, collar), as well as the back of the blouse. All clothing has been dyed in a coffee/lavender bud bath for a slightly aged appearance. It was then hand-washed & pressed with linen water.

BellaTorsoBella holds in her lap a white crescent moon made from muslin. It has been hand-painted & sanded many times & is 5 inches tall top to bottom.

Bella’s hair is strawberry blonde 100% mohair. I have lightly glued, then carefully needle-felted it to her head. It is parted & styled into wild side pigtails.

Bella’s hat which has been hand-made from muslin & painted, sanded & stained, is securely pinned to Bella’s head with a pearl tipped corsage pin. It can be removed for year round display.

Bella will be available on eBay July 6th at 9PM EST. She will end Sunday night, July 13th at 9 PM EST.

Hello Etsy!

For a while now, I’ve considered the possibility of opening up an Etsy shop. I realize there are lots of people who do not wish to purchase items on eBay; it is disheartening to lose auction after auction at the last second.

So today I did it. I opened up a Miller Campbell Designs Etsy store & listed my first item. Although it may take a while for a doll to appear on there, this will be a great venue to sell paintings, maybe prints (in the future) & possibly smaller dolls as I’ve had several requests for birds & some of my smaller accessories that often accompany my little girls. Plus, I just love to constantly make things…so don’t be surprised if you see something that doesn’t seem to ‘fit’ my more primitive stylings… I sometimes like to just see what happens.

This painting is available now on Etsy. Swing by and take a look! And if you have an Etsy account, don’t be afraid to show me some love! I love discovering new art made by tender & creative hands!
