This little lady is Simmon. She is my original design and is guaranteed one of a kind art! Simmon is 18" tall with a wingspan of 13". She has been made of muslin & stuffed with fiberfill & has been hand-painted & sanded, top to bottom many, many times. Simmon has been treated to a series of paint washes, making her look "oh so vintage". She has a hemp a loop attached to her back for hanging or she can sit, if propped, should you choose to display her in that fashion.
Simmon’s face has been needle-sculpted by hand and hand-painted. Her bottom lip ‘pouts’ while her top lip is simply painted. She is heavily detailed & features big light brown eyes, rosy cheeks, peachy lips & detailed eyebrows. She has been painted with various mediums. Simmon’s fingers have been needle-sculpted by hand. She has been sealed top to bottom with a combination of glossy & matte acrylic sealer so that she may be lightly dusted after display & kept a lifetime.
Simmon sports painted brown boots and buttery, light yellow socks. They are highly detailed, right down to the laces. She also sports painted, buttery yellow gloves.
Simmon’s apron dress is made from two super cute 100% cotton prints in robin’s egg blue & peach. Simmon’s blouse is made of muslin & features hand-gathered sleeves & a vintage button at the collar. Simmon’s clothing features tons of hand-stitching! All visible hems have been hand-stitched (dress & sleeves), as well as the back of the blouse & collar. All clothing has been treated to a coffee and lavender bud bath for a slightly aged appearance. It was then hand-washed & pressed with linen water.
Simmon’s wings have been made of muslin, hand-quilted, hand-painted & sealed. They were painted with Crenis Pechuelli butterfly wings serving as the inspiration (see photo above). They are lightly wired on top & can be very gently bent. They were attached to Simmon with a large black button & several strands of heavy duty thread.
Simmon’s hair is black 100% mohair. I’ve lightly glued, then carefully needle-felted it to her head. Her hair is styled into loose pin curls.
Simmon will be available on eBay beginning tonight at 9:15 PM EST. This is a 7 day auction & she will end Sunday April 27th @ 9:15 PM. Click here to view or bid on this little lady!
